DIRECTOR. PROFESSOR. CULTURAL CUSTODIAN.
My name is Lamar Perry, and I am a purpose-driven theatrical director. Talent by gift, execution by passion.
Resume and biography available below.
The edification of humanity exists in the achievement of Black, Femme, and Queer liberation. By nature, this necessitates the investigation of stories outside of white gaze. This is critical - not only to the evolution of American theater, but also to the dismantling of systems that propagate violence against these communities. I am committed to work that imagines worlds outside of White Supremacy and interrogates the trauma of marginalization through romance, class, and sex.
Queer Black boys deserve love stories, and Black women deserve to be imagined as more than just heroes.
A RESUME IS EARNED
“Mr. Perry leads the next generation of theater artists who are not only imaginative but understand the balance of art, community and commerce —a quality only found in those whom I refer to as cultural custodians. We are all in good hands if Lamar is leading the way.”
